What to Wear to a Massage
Wear whatever is comfortable, and undress only as much as feels right. Here is what happens with clothes, draping and products at our Westchase studio.
Wear whatever is comfortable. When it is time for the massage, you undress only as much as feels right for you, and you stay draped with a sheet the whole session.
That is the short answer. Here is how it works at our studio in Westchase, Tampa, so nothing surprises you.
What to wear on the way in
Anything comfortable. Arrive 5 to 10 minutes early, so there is time to talk about what you need before the session starts.
Do you have to undress?
No. Undress only as much as feels right for you. Some people keep more on, some less. There is no correct amount, and you never need to explain your choice. You then lie under a sheet.
How draping works
You stay draped with a sheet the whole session. Only the area being worked is uncovered, and the rest of you stays covered. If you want an area left alone, say so.
For back and shoulder work, many women choose to remove their bra, because straps get in the way. It is always your call.
In a Neck and Shoulder session, you start face down for the upper back and shoulders, then turn face up for the neck and the base of the skull.
Things people worry about
Unshaved legs or a blemish? Not a concern at all. Unshaved skin and minor skin marks make no difference to your session. Everyone is welcome exactly as they are.
Falling asleep, drooling or snoring? It happens more often than you might think, and it is always welcome.
Allergies or sensitive skin? The ingredients of every product we use are listed, and the intake form asks about sensitivities and allergies. You can also bring your own product. A quick word before your session is all it takes to adjust.
Feeling uncomfortable during the session? Say the word. Pressure, technique and position can all change at any time, and you never need to explain why.
Booking with a man for the first time?
Huan is the only therapist at the studio. If that is on your mind, read Booking a Male Massage Therapist for the First Time. It covers draping, consent and how to check a Florida license.
